Explore Los Haitises National Park by boat, a UNESCO World Heritage site
Discover Los Haitises National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. During a half-day trip, you will depart by boat from the village of Sanchez to reach this gem of the Samaná Peninsula. Rafael, your passionate guide, will take you through this extravagant landscape, sharing the fascinating history of the Taínos, the indigenous people who inhabited these lands hundreds of years ago. You will have the chance to admire islets home to many birds, explore mangroves hosting curious wildlife, and witness the park’s rich biodiversity. Open your eyes wide and be amazed by this unique setting often compared to Halong Bay in Vietnam.
You will also explore on foot three sacred caves adorned with Taíno petroglyphs and pictographs. This is a must-see break to understand the soul of this precious place in the Dominican Republic. An aperitif will await you near the park ranger’s house, followed by a typical Dominican lunch in a private restaurant.
This is one of our favorite excursions at Holaqueya, and we highly recommend not missing this unique park if you are traveling in the Dominican Republic.
